Gardening is fun, but can be alot of work. I have my daughter and nieces and nephew help me. You don't have to have alot of land to grow vegetables. You can plant them in planters on your porch. When you grow your own fruits and vegetables you know what you are putting in the soil and what is coming out. Gardening will cut your grocery bill down also. My sister is starting her own garden this year. I will keep you posted on the growth. They have planted cantaloupe, green beans, and tomatoes. It is important to do your research on which vegetables are good to plant together and which ones are not. You can plant marigolds near your tomatoes. The scent of the marigold helps prevent certain bugs from eating the tomato plant.

Spring picking

My first picking from the garden is ready. I have mixed spring lettuce, spinach, radishes and spring onions. A rabbitt got into the garden last week and had a great dinner. Thankfully lettuce grows back nice. I made a cage over the lettuce with chicken wire. It seems to have keep the furry guy out. I have an electric fence around it for the deer, it seems I'm going to have to add a low wire for the rabbitts. I would like to hear other ways of keeping rabbitts out of the garden. Please let me know your ideas.
